What to say when someone dies islam

In Islam, when someone passes away, it’s important to offer condolences and prayers for the deceased and their family. Here are 200 lines of phrases and prayers commonly expressed in such situations:

  1. إِنَّا لِلّهِ وَإِنَّـا إِلَيْهِ رَاجِعُونَ (Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji’un) – “Surely we belong to Allah and to Him shall we return.”
  2. May Allah grant them Jannat al-Firdaus (the highest paradise).
  3. May Allah forgive their sins and grant them peace.
  4. اللَّهُمَّ أَجِرْنِي فِي مُصِيبَتِي وَأَخْلِفْ لِي خَيْرًا مِنْهَا (Allahumma ajirni fi musibati wa akhlif li khayran minha) – “O Allah, reward me in my affliction and replace it with something better.”
  5. إِنَّمَا الصَّدَقَاتُ لِلْفُقَرَاءِ وَالْمَسَاكِينِ وَالْعَامِلِينَ عَلَيْهَا وَالْمُؤَلَّفَةِ قُلُوبُهُمْ وَفِي الرِّقَابِ وَالْغَارِمِينَ وَفِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ وَابْنِ السَّبِيلِ ۖ فَرِيضَةً مِّنَ اللَّهِ ۗ وَاللَّهُ عَلِيمٌ حَكِيمٌ (Indeed, [prescribed] charitable offerings are only [to be given] to the poor and the needy, and to those who work on [administering] it, and to those whose hearts are to be reconciled [among believers], and to free the captives and the debtors, and for the cause of Allah, and for the [stranded] traveler – an obligation [imposed] by Allah. And Allah is Knowing and Wise.) – Quran 9:60
  6. May Allah grant patience and strength to the family during this difficult time.
  7. إِذَا مَاتَ الإِنسَانُ انقَطَعَ عَنْهُ عَمَلُهُ إِلاَّ مِن ثَلاَثَةٍ إِلاَّ مِنْ صَدَقَةٍ جَارِيَةٍ أَوْ عِلْمٍ يُنْتَفَعُ بِهِ أَوْ وَلَدٍ صَالِحٍ يَدْعُو لَهُ (When a person dies, his deeds come to an end except for three: ongoing charity, beneficial knowledge, or a righteous child who prays for him.) – Sahih Muslim 1631
  8. May Allah shower His mercy upon the deceased and grant them forgiveness.
  9. اللهم اغفر له وارحمه وعافه واعف عنه وأكرم نزله ووسع مدخله واغسله بالماء والثلج والبرد ونقه من الخطايا كما نقيت الثوب الأبيض من الدنس (O Allah, forgive him and have mercy on him, grant him safety and pardon him, receive him honorably and make his grave spacious, wash him with water, snow, and hail, and cleanse him from sin as a white garment is cleansed from dirt.)
  10. May the angels surround the deceased with their wings and guide them to the gardens of paradise.
  11. إِنَّ الَّذِينَ قَالُوا رَبُّنَا اللَّهُ ثُمَّ اسْتَقَامُوا تَتَنَزَّلُ عَلَيْهِمُ الْمَلَائِكَةُ أَلَّا تَخَافُوا وَلَا تَحْزَنُوا وَأَبْشِرُوا بِالْجَنَّةِ الَّتِي كُنتُمْ تُوعَدُونَ (Indeed, those who have said, “Our Lord is Allah” and then remained steadfast – the angels will descend upon them, [saying], “Do not fear and do not grieve but receive good tidings of Paradise, which you were promised.) – Quran 41:30
  12. May Allah grant strength and solace to the family and friends of the deceased.
  13. اللَّهُمَّ أَجِرْنِي فِي مُصِيبَتِي وَأَخْلِفْ لِي خَيْرًا مِنْهَا (Allahumma ajirni fi musibati wa akhlif li khayran minha) – “O Allah, reward me in my affliction and replace it with something better.”
  14. May Allah bless the departed soul and grant them peace in the Hereafter.
  15. إِنَّ الَّذِينَ أَمَنُوا وَعَمِلُوا الصَّالِحَاتِ كَانَتْ لَهُمْ جَنَّاتُ الْفِرْدَوْسِ نُزُلًا (Indeed, those who have believed and done righteous deeds will have gardens beneath which rivers flow – that is a great attainment.) – Quran 18:107
  16. May Allah forgive the shortcomings and sins of the deceased and grant them a place in Jannah.

  18. إِنَّا للهِ وَإِنَّا إِلَيْهِ رَاجِعُونَ (Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji’un) – “Surely we belong to Allah and to Him shall we return.”

  24. اللَّهُمَّ اغْفِرْ لِحَيِّنَا وَمَيِّتِنَا وَشَاهِدِنَا وَغَائِبِنَا وَصَغِيرِنَا وَكَبِيرِنَا وَذَكَرِنَا وَأُنثَانَا اللَّهُمَّ مَنْ أَحْيَيْتَهُ مِنَّا فَأَحْيِهِ عَلَى الْإِسْلَامِ وَمَنْ تَوَفَّيْتَهُ مِنَّا فَتَوَفَّهُ عَلَى الْإِيمَانِ (O Allah, forgive our living and our dead, those present and those absent, our young and our old, our males and our females. O Allah, whoever You keep alive, keep them alive in Islam, and whoever You cause to die, let them die in faith.)
  25. May the departed soul find peace and tranquility in the presence of Allah.
  26. إِنَّا كَفَيْنَاكَ الْمُسْتَهْزِئِينَ (Indeed, We are sufficient for you against the mockers.) – Quran 15:95
  27. May Allah grant the family strength to endure this loss with patience and faith.
  28. May Allah forgive the deceased for any mistakes or shortcomings and grant them mercy.
  29. اللَّهُمَّ اجْعَلْ مَقَامَهُمْ الْفِرْدَوْسَ مِنَ الْجَنَّةِ (O Allah, make their abode in the highest level of Paradise.)
  30. May Allah grant the deceased a peaceful journey to the Hereafter.
  31. إِنَّمَا يُؤْمِنُ بِآيَاتِنَا الَّذِينَ إِذَا ذُكِّرُوا بِهَا خَرُّوا سُجَّدًا وَسَبَّحُوا بِحَمْدِ رَبِّهِمْ وَهُمْ لَا يَسْتَكْبِرُونَ (Those who, when reminded of the verses of their Lord, do not fall upon them deaf and blind. And those who say, “Our Lord, grant us from among our wives and offspring comfort to our eyes and make us an example for the righteous.” Those will be awarded the Chamber for what they patiently endured, and they will be received therein with greetings and [words of] peace. Abiding eternally therein. Good is the settlement and residence.) – Quran 25:64-76
  32. May Allah grant the deceased a high place in Jannah and ease their journey in the Hereafter.
  33. اللَّهُمَّ أَدْخِلْهُمْ الْجَنَّةَ مَعَ الصِّدِّيقِينَ وَالشُّهَدَاءِ وَالصَّالِحِينَ (O Allah, admit them to Paradise with the righteous, the martyrs, and the virtuous.)
  34. May Allah shower His mercy upon the deceased and grant them eternal bliss in Paradise.
  35. إِنَّ الَّذِينَ تَوَفَّاهُمُ الْمَلَائِكَةُ ظَالِمِي أَنفُسِهِمْ قَالُوا فِيمَ كُنتُمْ ۖ قَالُوا كُنَّا مُسْتَضْعَفِينَ فِي الْأَرْضِ ۚ قَالُوا أَلَمْ تَكُنْ أَرْضُ اللَّهِ وَاسِعَةً فَتُهَاجِرُوا فِيهَا ۚ فَأُولَـٰئِكَ مَأْوَاهُمْ جَهَنَّمُ ۖ وَسَاءَتْ مَصِيرًا (Indeed, those whom the angels take [in death] while wronging themselves – [the angels] will say, “In what [condition] were you?” They will say, “We were oppressed in the land.” [The angels] will say, “Was not the earth of Allah spacious [enough] for you to emigrate therein?” For those, their refuge is Hell – and evil it is as a destination.) – Quran 4:97
  36. May Allah grant the deceased a place among the righteous and bless them with His mercy and forgiveness.
  37. اللَّهُمَّ اغْفِرْ لَهُمْ وَارْحَمْهُمْ وَعَافِهِمْ وَاعْفُ عَنْهُمْ وَأَكْرِمْ نُزُلَهُمْ وَوَسِّعْ مُدْخَلَهُمْ وَاغْسِلْهُمْ بِالْمَاءِ وَالثَّلْجِ وَالْبَرَدِ (O Allah, forgive them and have mercy on them, heal them,
  38. الرِّيَاضِ مِن رِيَاضِ الْجَنَّةِ (O Allah, make their grave a garden from the gardens of Paradise.)
  39. May Allah grant the deceased a peaceful resting place and eternal happiness in the Hereafter.
  40. اللَّهُمَّ اجْعَلْهُ فِي أَعْلَى الْجَنَّةِ (O Allah, place them in the highest ranks of Paradise.)
  41. May Allah grant the deceased forgiveness and mercy and alleviate their suffering in the grave.
  42. اللَّهُمَّ اغْفِرْ لَهُ وَارْحَمْهُ وَعَافِهِ وَاعْفُ عَنْهُ وَأَكْرِمْ نُزُلَهُ وَوَسِّعْ مُدْخَلَهُ (O Allah, forgive him, have mercy on him, heal him, pardon him, honor his residence, and widen his entry.)
  43. May Allah grant the deceased a peaceful transition to the Hereafter and ease their journey.
  44. اللَّهُمَّ اجْعَلْ قَبْرَهُ رَوْضَةً مِنْ رِيَاضِ الْجَنَّةِ (O Allah, make their grave a garden from the gardens of Paradise.)
  45. May Allah grant patience and strength to the family and friends of the deceased during this difficult time.
  46. اللَّهُمَّ أَسْكِنْهُمْ فَسِيحَ جَنَّاتِكَ (O Allah, admit them to the vastness of Your gardens.)
  47. May Allah grant the deceased entry into Paradise without any accountability or punishment.
  48. اللَّهُمَّ أَجْرِنِي فِي مُصِيبَتِي وَأَخْلِفْ لِي خَيْرًا مِنْهَا (O Allah, reward me in my affliction and replace it with something better.)
  49. May Allah grant the deceased peace and tranquility in their final resting place.
  50. اللَّهُمَّ اجْعَلْ قَبْرَهُ رَوْضَةً مِنْ رِيَاضِ الْجَنَّةِ (O Allah, make their grave a garden from the gardens of Paradise.)
  51. May Allah grant the deceased light in the grave and on the Day of Judgment.
  52. اللَّهُمَّ اغْفِرْ لَهُمْ وَارْحَمْهُمْ وَعَافِهِمْ وَاعْفُ عَنْهُمْ وَأَكْرِمْ نُزُلَهُمْ وَوَسِّعْ مُدْخَلَهُمْ وَاغْسِلْهُمْ بِالْمَاءِ وَالثَّلْجِ وَالْبَرَدِ (O Allah, forgive them, have mercy on them, heal them, pardon them, honor their residence, and widen their entry, and wash them with water, ice, and hail.)
  53. May Allah grant the deceased a place among the righteous in Paradise.
  54. اللَّهُمَّ أَبْدِلْهُ دَارًا خَيْرًا مِن دَارِهِمْ وَأَهْلاً خَيْرًا مِنْ أَهْلِهِمْ وَزَوْجًا خَيْرًا مِنْ زَوْجِهِمْ وَأَدْخِلْهُمْ الْجَنَّةَ وَأَعِذْهُمْ مِنْ عَذَابِ الْقَبْرِ وَعَذَابِ النَّارِ (O Allah, exchange their home for a better home, their family for a better family, their spouse for a better spouse, admit them to Paradise, and protect them from the punishment of the grave and the punishment of the Hellfire.)
  55. May Allah grant the deceased peace and comfort in the grave and on the Day of Judgment.
  56. اللَّهُمَّ اغْفِرْ لَهُمْ وَارْحَمْهُمْ وَعَافِهِمْ وَاعْفُ عَنْهُمْ وَأَكْرِمْ نُزُلَهُمْ وَوَسِّعْ مُدْخَلَهُمْ وَاغْسِلْهُمْ بِالْمَاءِ وَالثَّلْجِ وَالْبَرَدِ (O Allah, forgive them, have mercy on them, heal them, pardon them, honor their residence, widen their entry, and wash them with water, ice, and hail.)
  57. May Allah grant the deceased entry into Paradise and make their grave a place of comfort and rest.
  58. اللَّهُمَّ ارْحَمْ فُلَانًا وَارْزُقْهُ الجَنَّةَ وَاكْفِهِ بِالْحَسَنَاتِ إِحْسَانًا (O Allah, have mercy on so-and-so, grant them Paradise, and protect them with good deeds.)
  59. May Allah forgive the deceased and grant them mercy and forgiveness.
  60. اللَّهُمَّ اغْفِرْ لَهُمْ وَارْحَمْهُمْ وَعَافِهِمْ وَاعْفُ عَنْهُمْ وَأَكْرِمْ نُزُلَهُمْ وَوَسِّعْ مُدْخَلَهُمْ وَاغْسِلْهُمْ بِالْمَاءِ وَالثَّلْجِ وَالْبَرَدِ (O Allah, forgive them, have mercy on them, heal them, pardon them, honor their residence, widen their entry, and wash
  61. pardon them, honor their residence, widen their entry, and wash them with water, ice, and hail.)
  62. May Allah grant the deceased light and peace in the grave and on the Day of Judgment.
